A. Portrait Retouching

While objects and scenes can be a little bit off as far as color and texture are concerned, flawed portraits are immediately detected even by laymen. Either they look too unnatural, too unrecognizable, or over-embellished.

What will be covered

• Hiding or deemphasizing flaws
• Accentuating positive features
• Dealing with wrinkles, eyebags, freckles, skin blemishes
• Brightening up the eyes
• Dealing with facial shine
• Proper skin texture
• Improving hair color and texture
• Corrective "lighting" and contrast
• Adding or fixing the background

Prerequisite

Working knowledge of Photoshop

Knowledge or familiarity with portrait photography but not required

B. Creative Effects

Date: November 12 (Thu)

While the basic and advanced Photoshop classes mostly involved editing available objects, this specialized class makes use of Photoshop's tools for creating/inventing realistic objects, often out of nothing.

What will be covered

• Integrating type and graphics
• Applying a logo with 3D Transform
• Liquifying a shadow
• Creating neon glow
• Creating glass and plastic effects on objects
• Creating chrome, brushed steel surfaces
• Imprinting/wrapping 2D images on a 3D surface
• Creating 3D and contour effects
• Warping and perspective
• Blending layers for proper and desired effect
• Smoke and mirrors
• Fire and rain
• Realistic light and shadow
• Creating and compositing various textures such as wood, metal, cloth, stone/concrete
