Dynamic Acrylic Painting for Kids

Try your hand at painting! Transfer your imagination to canvas! Don't worry if you can't draw very well, painting is as much imagination as drawing skill. You don't even need to color inside the lines, because there are no lines.

This workshop shows you how to create paintings using the acrylic medium, a water-based, versatile paint that is more forgiving than watercolor or oil.

What will be covered
    Day 1
  • Acrylic medium overview
  • Proper canvas preparation
  • Project 1: Solid Color painting
  • This project involves painting with solid colors reminiscent of stained glass windows, a style used by modern painters such as Mondrian.

  • Project 2: Still Life Alla Prima
  • Participants paint a still life subject in the impressionist style, using brush and palette knife.

    Day 2
  • Project 3: Textured Abstract
  • Using a base textured medium, participants create dimensional abstract art.

  • Project 4: Prismatic Portrait
  • Not your traditional style of painting portraits, prismatic portraits are created using vivid colors for a more striking rendition of the subject.

At the end of the workshop, each participant can bring home all their finished paintings.

Who should attend

Open to anyone interested in learning acrylic painting, or starting out in art.

What to bring

All supplies will be provided (desktop easels, canvas board, paints, paint brush, paint palette, palette knife, apron...etc). All you need to bring is lot of enthusiasm and willingness to learn. At the end of the workshop, each participant can bring home all their finished paintings (Project 1-4).
