What's currently on display at the PCCI Lobby
This is a sampling of different treatments to the beauty of the female form and the rawness of a crowd of hands grasping one another. All the pieces are created by up-and-coming artist Ronna Lara-Bes, who happens to be a member of the PCCI Faculty.
Here are the write-ups for each individual work:
Picture, if you will, a moment: That split-second time right after wallowing in the depths of despair (the black) and the beginnings of your effort for recovery (the blue). The intent of this work is to capture that tiny pause before you utter to yourself: “I can do this, I can heal.”
Life is never simple, nor easy. For each individual, challenges abound. This is a depiction of an individual, who, in spite of all the things that weigh him down, the perseverance remains strong, holding on and lifting others in the process. The breaking of one glorious dawn represents salvation, or attainment of one’s goals.
This is a tribute to the beauty of the female form. The use of multi-hued strokes creates a striking contrast, lifting her up from the black background. What exactly is she looking at and feeling?
A faerie in the nude. The wings are done in the impressionistic style of the palette knife, giving it an almost insubstantial feel. the rest of the body that was in the shade is left unfinished to let the viewers complete it in their mind’s eye.
I am an artist. My primary specialty is 3D and digital graphics but I also explore traditional media like watercolors, oil and acrylic. I do technical illustrations of architectural works like enhanced plans and perspectives. I also have lately been creating ad-like content for the broadcast media.
